Alcohol Awareness Month 2009

Happy Alcohol Awareness Month! April has been dubbed Alcohol Awareness Month by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services – Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the organization takes time during this month especially to concentrate on exposing the growing problem with alcoholism, binge drinking, teen drinking and more.

Although alcohol abuse is a world-wide problem, Alcohol Awareness Month mostly concentrates on Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse in the United States. Sponsored by the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Alcohol Awareness Month 2009 strives to highlight the fact that alcoholism is a sickness and a treatable disease which affects not the alcoholic, but friends and family as well.
