Inventory: New Bruce Willis Movie Deals with AA and the 12 Steps

Reports are circulating that Bruce Willis has been checking out Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meeting for his latest role in “Inventory.” The title is a reference to step 4 of the 12 step recovery process from the Alcoholics Anonymous fellowship. During step 4, individuals must take a moral inventory.

If everything goes as planned, “Inventory”, the movie, will star Bruce Willis as an undercover police officer who must portray an Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) sponsor in order to catch a murderer.

The movie sounds really cool. I’ll definitely be coming back to check it out. The Step Inventory is probably one of the hardest. It requires the attic to be brutally honest with him/herself…JT

Hey Scott, I don’t agree with you that AA is pathetic… In what sense? I don’t mind posting negative comments about Alcoholics Anonymous, I would just like some sort of explanation or reason as to why you feel that way.

I’m with you. I am a member of AA and I believe that they have helped me when I couldn’t help myself. I now have a whole new group of friends that I can enjoy being with and not drink or drug. Honest caring people all.

I used to attend AA meetings because several people were very friendly and supportive. I thought the few exceptions were just more perceptive of my own “character defects” and more willing to sher “tough love”.

But then I heard more and more of the “older” members, each criticizing the other behind their backs. Then I heard the leaders ridiculing the members as irresponsible. Finally I heard the membership dismiss the leaders as “full of themselves”.

I found AA to be no different from any other group of drunks.

There are many TV shows and movies that include AA meetings (Rescue Me, The Cleaner, Breaking Bad and more), and some are more realistic than others. But they are entertainment, aren’t they? My experience has been that meeting are like life, and time working the steps or in sobriety does not automatically make you a better person. Just like life itself, some of us experience it better than others. We are all trying to live it on its’ terms. Please keep coming back and listen for the message that is there for you.

A.A. is made up of human beings and therefore, far from perfect. But it has helped literally millions of people have wonderful lives, myself included.

There are lost of great meetings and some bad ones. The people are mostly good, caring individuals, but there are occasionally some real assholes.

Take what you need and leave the rest.

IVE BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE PROGRAM FOR YEARS BUT ONLY BECAUSE I WAS TOO LAZY TO DO THE WORK THAT CAN SAVE MY LIFE. I GET IT NOW! I CAME IN WILLING TO DO ANYTHING TO STAY SOBER, BUT I GOT COMPLACENT. AA states that it is not a religious organization, yet most of the steps are God. I am a Christian but that’s a joke. Telling a person they are powerless of a substance. People in AA don’t realize they are actually doing it themselves. AA takes the credit. When a member fails no one is there for them, they are just a drunk that didn’t give themselves over completely, I know this, fact. Also someone made a comment on making new friends. Cult alert. The father of my child has left his new born baby behind, stating he is not at step 8 yet. He has just run away and spends all his time with AA and his new friends. This is acceptable behavior, using God as a platform. Shame on AA.

if you are not an alcoholic, try an Al Anon meeting. Better yet read the first 164 pages of the book Alcoholics Anonymous. Then let’s have this discussion after those experiences. I’d like to know what you think. Remember, ” we claim progress, not perfection.”
